Ashridge House Wedding

A Spring Wedding at Ashridge House in Hertfordshire

You may recognise these two from a previous blog. Thats right, they smashed their London Pre Wedding Session, you can view it here.

Kallyna and Ethan had some rather grand and ambitious plans for their wedding celebrations. I mean, why settle for just one wedding day when you can have two? I was incredibly lucky to be there for round one at the breathtaking Ashridge House. This venue is one of my all-time favourites, located in Hertfordshire. Ashridge House offers couples an abundance of options to make their wedding truly unique. The variety of spaces available to hold your ceremony or wedding breakfast is genuinely unbeatable. Whether you're in the magnificent Main Hall or the enchanting Fernery, every spot is stunningly picturesque.

A twilight wedding for an intimate selection of guests, was the plan in April. Ahead of another big day in Brazil, in November. Kallyna’s grand entrance down the staircase of the majestic main hall for the ceremony was scheduled for 3pm. The morning was spent getting everything prepared and of course a lot of pampering for the girls. Before the most exquisitely detailed dress was on and sparkling in the natural window light. Everyone was ready and raring to get the show on the road.

Ethan was in position, eagerly and excitedly awaiting the arrival of his beautiful bride. Kallyna’s entrance was nothing short of magical, just as you could imagine, as she made her way down the sweeping staircase with her mum at her side. The ceremony itself took place on the staircase that was perfectly framed by beautiful flowers, masterfully created by Rebecca Marsala Flowers. When the newlyweds exited the main hall, their sheer happiness radiated through the smiles on their faces. Whilst they were taking a few moments to gather themselves and enjoy some quiet time, we were busy preparing and getting the guests organized in just the right spots for a confetti tunnel in the main hall. Once everyone was in position, the grand double doors slowly opened to reveal the couple, beaming with joy, ready to celebrate.

Being April, meant that the daylight was around for a limited time, so after a quick glass of fizz with friends and family, we headed out to get through our list of formal group photos before the light started to fade. Whilst we were outside in the stunning gardens with the sun slowly dipping behind the house, we took the opportunity to spend just 10 minutes getting a few couple photos, before heading back in to The Old Library to celebrate with everyone.

The wedding breakfast and speeches were held in the beautifully decorated Lady Marian Alford room, where all the guests were thoroughly entertained by the speeches. Both the Groom and Bride each took this opportunity to thank everyone and share some lovely words for each other. The best man and maid of honour recounted some lighthearted childhood stories, and highlighted the impressive academic and professional accolades that the happy couple had already accomplished.

The cake cutting took place just moments before the couple's grand entrance onto the dance floor of the Old Library. As Kallyna and Ethan held each other tight in a sweet embrace, their family and friends watched on with clasped hands and proud smiles. Just before they were joyfully unleashed onto the dance floor to show off their energetic dance moves.

It truly would have been an absolute crime to have not taken these two wonderful souls out for a little play so we could capture some flashy nighttime portraits in the Grand Hall. I knew without a doubt that these two wouldn’t want to be away from the bustling dance floor for too long. While they were dancing their feet off, I took the opportunity to get everything set up, so that I could sneak them away from the party for 5 minutes to create some truly stunning couple portraits. I’m so incredibly glad we decided to take this time, as the photos were even better than I could have imagined.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Ethan and Kallyna for being such absolute legends and putting their trust in me. Trusting your photographer is such an important element for beautiful photos and these two were just perfect. I’d like to thank all of the guests for being so welcoming and kind but especially Ethans Mum, for my cups of tea!! I’ll never turn down a brew!!
